Our dojo (training space) is very beautiful and clean. It adheres to Japanese Martial Art Tradition. Our goal is to offer to you the best and most qualified Martial Art instruction available, and to offer this in a safe and non-competitive environment.
In teaching the art of Aikido, we desire to assist students to live harmoniously in their own lives as well as within their community, their surrounding environment, and in broader spheres. A life of harmony is borderless.
Aikido means a way of harmony, or harmonizing with your environment. It is a way of life. In fact, The ‘ai’ means harmony, ‘ki’ means ‘chi or prana,’ ‘do,’ means ‘the path.’ It is literally three words put into one that can be translated in multiple ways, but ultimately meaning a path to harmony. It can be harmony with all things, or yourself… it depends on the level of consciousness… first we have to be aware of who we are.
Finally, aikido is about harmony and letting the ego fall away. What draws one to aikido is the humility, compassion and learning the essence of self. The way that we would term our spirituality is basically about raising our awareness through access of our higher selves and our source connection. Not through doctrine or religion, but self-love and love for all that is.
